Upgrades And New Rules

Posted by Skiggs (Admin) at June 15 2010, 04:01 PM. 5 comments

Hello TCR. As some of you are aware some things have entered a state of chaos around here, while other places thrive and the community as a whole continues to grow and improve. With our new-found wealth of members and posts, and a rapidly aging set of rules, it became time for us to create a new set of rules, and more importantly begin cracking down and ensuring that these rules are enforced. Also, Zetaboards was recently upgraded, and some of the new features are being utilized by this board.

If you look at the menu bar at the top of the site, you'll now see two new links, Users Status and Board Feed. The Users Status spage will show a status of each member that has one set, as well as allow you to set your own. It's similar to status' like facebook. You can also set your status from clicking your username at the top of the board next to log out.

The Board Feed link will take you to a page that will show all activity on the board within a single page. It's essentially an in board RSS feed, making following the latest activities here on the board easy to follow.

And now ladies and gentleman, the moment some will love, others will hate, and all must follow, the inclusion of the newest edition of the board rules.

Trainz Commuter Rail is a rather large forum, and we strive to maintain an easy to use, friendly, and enjoyable atmosphere for all of our members. In order for us to acheive this goal, there are certain rules that must be followed. If any of the below rules are broken, punishment will be dealt at the discretion of the staff, ranging from a simple verbal or text based warning to a total perma-ban, depending on severity and amount of offenses. Once again, it is our overall goal to be as friendly as possible, and in order for that to happen these rules must be upheld.

1. If a Mod or Admin tells you something, then do it. Be that removing yourself from a thread or changing a sig. Remember if a Mod says black is white, it's white.

2. No spamming.
* Do not post off topic, and do not hijack threads.
* Do not post mindless chatter. That is what the shoutbox is for, use it.
* Do not “bump” threads. Only add to an old thread if your comments are relevant and would be seen as a viable addition to a thread. Continuing on a conversation dropped months ago is not a viable reason.

3. No flaming.
* Do not make comments that PROVOKE flaming.
* Do not post personal insults or offensive comments toward other people.
* Do not make rude comments about other people’s downloads or requests. If you don’t like the download or don’t agree with the request, just move on to the next one -- your criticism is not welcome unless it is offered in a tasteful and constructive manner. Rude remarks will be deleted, and punishment will be dealt as seen fit.

4. Signatures MUST NOT be larger than 150 pixels tall by 800 pixels wide. Signatures over these limits can and will be removed without notice. It can warp the theme as well as increase page loading times.

5. Watch your language! Language can be very obnoxious and intimidating, and can also scare away different members of the board. It is very important that TCR maintains a friendly atmosphere, and language is very drab and will not promote that.

6. Under No Circumstances Ever should you at any time harass any member on this board ever for any sort of content, released or un-released, either through threads and posts, PM, Email, or any other methods. If a creator wishes to have content available for you to have, then it will be posted somewhere publicly online. Do not pester creators for their content, to have them make something for you, or for someone else's content that they have. It is harassment and we will punish harshly for it. If you are looking for something that you have not been able to find, use the Where Can I Find Section.

7. The Where Can I Find section IS NOT in any way, shape, or form a place where you as a user can ask us to find, locate, or send you content that was once online from any various creators that have either removed all of their content from the internet and the Download Station or have never published more than betas to specific people of their content. Privileges to this section will be removed if you are found asking for any of the aforementioned content.

8. The Shoutbox is your one stop shop for random chatter. Remember, all normal board rules still apply in the shoutbox. Also, random one word blurbs of no significant meaning are against the rules, as they are just flat out annoying and degrade from the purpose of the shoutbox. Saying Hello is fine, normal conversation is fine. But randomly blurting out an engine or something stupid, and then nothing else or continuing completely random, non conversational one word shouts is agitating and against the rules.

*********CONTENT NOTICE***********************
1.The horns we host here on TCR are recorded by a hard working engineer(gerr) that are made by the user Gandalf0444 are allowed to be used on your own content, under the conditions that you place the name gerr and Gandalf0444 in the credits(even TCR as a whole will suffice) ABSOLUTELY no copying of these horn/sound files. If we suspect any copying without express permission from either Gandalf0444 or gerr there will be consequences.

2. If it is found that any of the links to our content is posted anywhere else on the web,or hosted anywhere else without the express permission of the creator you will be permantly banned from our forums, and request that the content in question is removed from the site(or link removed). Contact to the webmaster of the site will also be made. THIS GOES DOUBLE for things hosted on the FTP Server we have access to.

3. All content here on TCR is the sole property of it's creator, and no one can change, modify, or change it in any way without written or typed consent from it's original author.

4. Content created and hosted on TCR is not to be posted anywhere else online without permission from the creator, or if it was made exclusive to TCR the entire administrative team.

5. Custom sounds, skins, and other files found on TCR are not to be used in any projects without permission.

6. For Content Creators: It is nessecary that you release content frequently and regularly to retain a position on our content creators staff. For re-skinners, it is reccomended to have at least one release every 1-2 months. 3D artists are allowed as much time as needed to complete the project, so long as regular screenshots and updates are posted.

7. Once again, we would like to stress that content posted here on TCR is the sole property of it's creator, and of TCR, and is not, under any circumstances, to be distributed on any forum, trainz website, or the DLS without the written approval of it's creator. If we find you are distributing content from here without permission from the original creator, you will be permanently banned from these forums without chance of redemption. Our creators are very proud of their works, and you as a user have no right to disrespect them by essentially stealing traffic from the site they call home and giving away their content behind their backs.

Coming Changes

Posted by Skiggs (Admin) at June 13 2010, 10:07 PM. One comment

Hello All.

Trainz Commuter Rail is currently thriving, so much so in fact that it's becoming hard for me to see everything that's going on in a day like I used to be able to. And my Co-Admins and staff do an amazing job doing, well their jobs, and taking care of the board and maintaining everything as they should. It has come to my attention, however, that some things around here are beggining to slip a little out of hand, and by that I mean content is being requested of certain people that shouldn't be, creators and members are being harassed for content, numerous old topics are being bumped for no apparent reason without any sort of useful input, and some other nuisances and annoyances have started to arise not worth mentioning here.

Our Board Rules may not specifically mention anything against some of the above. However, when most of those rules were created, this was a much smaller board, with an even smaller active userbase, and the rules we had were quite sufficient. Now, however, we have a great deal more members, and more active members than we've ever had before, and as such our old board policies don't quite cut it anymore. Because of this, within the next few days a new set of board rules will be posted to the Board Rules and Content Policy page, and included in a news announcment here.

On a more positive note, there are some great new features and bug fixes within the Zetaboards software, and some of them are a great plus to the site, and I'll detail them in the next update I post as well. Also, at some point another post contest or something similar will happen too, although what specifically I'm not entirely sure just yet. That's all for now TCR, please continue to enjoy the site!

You are a pirate!

Alright kiddies, it's time for another game here on TCR.

You're a pirate now, in case the button wasn't enough of a clue. So, what do you steal, or what is your adventure? You're allowed to post one idea a day for 5 days, starting now and ending Friday. Best idea gets their name up in lights and of course, some bragging rights for a period of time. Be creative, the more creative the better your chances are to win. For the sake of all of us who have to read it, keep it under a paragraph!

Dun Dun Dun!

Oh No! Someone has stolen all of TCR's Content!

Push Button Now

Ok, so not really, but I'm bored, so I thought I'd start a little "Clue" game on here, to see who dun it and how. I'll be posting 1 new clue here everyday in this thread, and you people get to try and guess who dun it. I picked a random person and a "method" of stealing downloads. I'll leave clues here once a day until someone figures out who dun it. Why? Because I'm bored and we can. What if you win? Bragging rights of course, but it'll be amusing for me. You only get one guess a day, so start guessing!

Here's your first clue: Neither blue nor gray, the color of their user name is best perceived by the human eye.

Clues so Far...
  • Neither blue nor gray, the color of their user name is best perceived by the human eye.
  • Neither splines nor poly's are this mans expertise, tgas are what he does best.
  • There's that smell, a smelly kind of smell that smells... smelly coming from the basement of this member. (or so I'm told.)

Board Rules Updated

Posted by Skiggs (Admin) at April 22 2010, 01:57 PM. 0 comments

Hey All, Just letting you know that the TCR rules have been updated. Most important to note is the new signature size limit, reduced the height and made the width a nice square number. Reason being is some signatures looked too big and became a nuisance, and the other is because I'm paranoid and like nice good looking numbers. Mods and Admins, users have 48 hours to change offending signatures before it's ok to warn them about them.

Thats all for now,
     -Skiggs
